For Valentine’s Day, give someone a big kiss!

An Oreo Kiss, that is. So, if you have a chocolate lover on your hands, then try these tasty treats and their hands might just be all over you.

Oreo Kisses

Oreo Kisses

Oreo Kisses

Ingredients

  • 1 package oreo cookies (divided… use cookie including the cream center)
  • 8oz. package cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 lb. package chocolate candy coating

Instructions

  1. Finely crush all but seven cookies in a food processor or place them in a ziploc bag and crush into a fine consistency.
  2. Stir in softened cream cheese. Use the back of a large spoon to help mash the two together.
  3. Roll the mixture into 1" balls and place on wax paper covered cookie sheet.
  4. Then, begin to form the shape of a kiss. Flattening the bottom and forming a point at the top. (Mine ended up about 1.5" tall)
  5. It helps to put the uncoated balls in the freezer for a few minutes to keep the mixture from starting to fall apart when you drop into the melted chocolate.
  6. Melt chocolate as directed on package and then dip "kisses" one at a time into chocolate, tap off extra and slide them off spoon onto wax paper covered cookie sheet to dry.
  7. Once dry, refrigerate and enjoy! Oh yeah, just eat the extra seven cookies.
  8. Decorate: Handwrite your messages or create them on the computer. Cut out the strips (about 1/4" tall and however wide you need).
  9. Cut up some square sheets of aluminum foil (about 5.5" square)
  10. Place dry kiss in center and start wrapping the foil around the base. Insert message near top and secure it by pressing the foil together at top.

  1. Do you think these would make it to Afghanistan?

  2. Wow, these look great! I live in Australia, so I didn’t know how these had anything to do with kisses when I read this post, but my American friend told me about hershey kisses. I think these would also taste great if you replaced the oreos with tim tams.

  3. I want to know what happen to the 7 oreo’s…do ya just eat them? or use them as a sacrifice to the baking gods?

  4. Bakerella…I tried to make this adorable kisses yesterday…everything was fine but I had some trouble with chocolate…

First: I bought cake chocolate bark and the container was made of plastic so I put it into a pan with water and waited to boil but the container started to melt so….I took the container and put it into the microwave and the chocolate just boiled up and It became too dense and it was so difficult to drop the kisses because the choocolate wasn´t liquid enough…so I took the chocolate and spread it to the kisses with a silicone spatula…the taste was good but the finish looks more like a truffle than like a kiss :(

What should I do next time? Maybe other kind of chocolate? Or another technique to melt it?

  5. How many weeks is the shelf span of this? how many weeks can we preserve this after we made it?

  6. What a delicious idea for Hershey’s Kisses

  7. So I have a question……I want to make these for my boyfriend for valentines day. The thing is he lives in Baltimore MD and I live in Miami Fl. Would these hold up if I shipped them to him???
    Thanks!!!!

  8. I realy love ur site, its awsome…..I am from India, could u please tell me if i can post this kisses through courier to my brother in London….

  13. This is the greatest Valentine’s Day gift. Creative, handmade, thoughtful, and sweet. I will definitely be making these next Feb. 14.

  14. I’ve been making Oreo Balls for years, for bday party favors and class treats and for teachers. They’ve always been a huge hit! I even made them into pumpkins last year for my dd’s fall bday – orange chocolate with a chocolate chip for a stem. Big hit! Your idea of the chocolate kiss is a GREAT idea! I think I’ll do this for the teachers for the last day of school. :) Thx!

  15. I am currently on summer break and I get extremely bored during the day! but now that I have discovered your wonderus blog full of cute baking ideas, I shall kiss my bland summer days goodbye! These Oreo kisses are SO adorable and tomorrow, I just might give them a try. Thanks bunches for being so darn creative. :)

  16. Hi Bakerella. I’m from Norway, and I did not understand how much cream cheese there should be in the oreo kisses. Could you please tell me what it is in grams? :) thanks.

  17. Emilt- thank you for trying my oreo kisses.

madelynn- thank you you are so nice.

Erin- hope you enjoyed them, sounded like you had fun makinng them.

  18. choco chips just need a tablespoon of shortening to a pound of chips to get it smmoooooooth. I usually can’t find almond bark and our house buys costco size bags of chips so always have chips around! works just like almond bark at a much cheaper price!
LOVE these kisses. Just made your nutter butter truffles!!
OMG TDF!! This after making the red velvet, choco-choco and lemon pops this past weekend;…
thanks! i have perused your site daily for the past week. am hooked!

  19. Wow, my mouth is watering just looking at these! Great photos- thanks for sharing!

  20. this is SOOOOO COOL! i love ur blog :)

  21. God truely puts people and things in your path for a reason. I stumbled on your site and now i am hooked. i love that you love what you do and you love to share your knowledge. I am a person who has always loved crafts and anything that will make me think and be creative and that what cake design does. however i have realize that i need to learn how to bake as well because my grandmother wont be around all the time and plus after baking my first cake i was hooked. i just dont know how to create receipes. But with your help i think i can definitely learn something and add my own flare to an already perfect receipe.

  22. Hello all
To every package of oreos (or any other cookie i use) I throw in a tub of icing instead of the cream cheese. I think they taste better and can last longer if you don’t want to sit on the couch and just eat all of them.
    Love you Bakerella!!

  23. question, I’ve made the pops a few times and I will be making some for this Sunday. I’ve noticed that every now and then the cake will push through the chocolate and look like little worms when they are drying, Freaked me out at first. What causes this and how do you prevent it from happening?

  24. Hi, I just discovered your website…it is amazing!!!
    This recipe sounds deliciuos!!
What is the weight of the oreo packages?
’cause I live in Italy and i don’t know if we have the same box here…
    Thank you!

  25. What kind of BARK do you use? Please help make mine a success, I am at my wits end trying to figure these cuties out! Thanks!!!!

  26. Do you think it would work if I made bigger kisses? Like three or four big ones?
And the hubs doesn’t like cream cheese. Is there anything I can substitute for it?

  27. hi bakerella!! i followed this recipe but made hearts instead of kisses and stuck them on lollipop sticks for valentines day.. most of them come off when i dip them in the chocolate but they still turned out ok.. though not as fabulous as yours..;)

i used compound chocolate and it was a bit difficult to dip because the consistency was so thick,, do you have some remedy for that?

anyways i had lots of fun making the oreo pops(?) and they’re super delicious.. i wish i could show you some of the photos..

thanks for creating this blog.. its just so amazing.. i wish u could come here to the Philippines…=)

  28. I thought this was such a cute idea but instead of the Oreo, I used peanut butter. I hope my boyfriend likes them!

  29. i think these are absolutely genius and want to make them to pass out to my friends for valentines day, but i don’t know how many servings this recipe makes. Could you tell me an approximate using the size you used? thank you :]

  30. how many does it make?

  31. YAY, i succeeded in making a huge one out of the entire recipe XD
hahaha thank you so much! i asked my boyfriend to sadies with it today =]]

  32. Made them today!! Definitely a hit!! Fabulous idea! Thanks :-)

  33. hi there! i am from Manila and is just starting to fall in love with baking! :) i am soooo glad i found ur blog site…i just made some red velvet cupcakes and they are awesome! i have leftovers tho and thot of making them into cake pops :) theyr cooling in the fridge now…am sure 3 very lucky kids will be opening that fridge door after school and will be ecstatic to find those wonderful treats! thank u for sharing ur baking adventures :D

  34. A little late, but I’ve featured this great recipe here on my blog – http://miscmakers.com/2011/01/22/valentines-day-quickie/

    Thanks!

  35. Oh Bakerella! These little kisses are PERFECT ~ exactly what I was looking for! Going to make these for my little ones’ classroom Valentine parties! Thank you for being so AMAZING and sharing your talent! P.S. ~ I received your cake pops book from my little ones for Christmas and I LOVE IT!!!

  36. I make things like this all the time we call them oreo bon-bons, except they are just round!!!!! Love the idea!!!! One of my friends told me to check this website out cause im a teenager and love to cook and I have looked at 2 things and I am completely amazed these things are amazing you are truly amazing!!!

  37. These sounds delish!!!! i am featuring these at somedaycrafts.blogspot.com.

  38. These are so adorable – I think I’ll try them for my hubby for Valentines day!!! They are just too cute and I’m hoping with the cream cheese they will not be a sweet as some of the cake pops I’ve tried….

  39. Important information for Canadians! I live on a border town and would like to inform other Canadians about the mixture when using cookies from our country. Did you know that we (Canadians) get more Oreo’s in our package than our neighbours to the south (Americans)? And, that our Oreo’s appear to be a bit thinner. I made a batch of both, Canadian and American kisses. The American Oreo’s made a much sturdier kiss, the Canadian kiss was a little soft-ish. Sorry, that sounded kind of funny, we Canadians kiss beautifully! My recommendation is to use the American Oreo’s if you can! Bakerella is the best, I am addicted!

  40. hi bakerella,
my daughter loves zebras so can you try to make zebra cake balls????

  41. How fine should the consistency be? Like coffee grounds fine?

  42. droool. drool. Yum. Delish. Terrific. I’m… dying…..

  43. i tried it yesterday, it’s just awesome and i love it !

  44. These look great, especially for a complete chocaholic! One question though- do you keep the white filling from the oreos and mix it in? I guess I’m confused by the word “divided…”
Thanks! Can’t wait to try these!

  45. Hi!
I’m from South Africa and somehow managed to find your blog when googling some recipes. I absolutley LOVE everything on your blog and really really want to try the recipes, but can’t get hold of a lot of the ingredients.. the most important being candy melts.. even in a lot of the really good baking stores I can only find cooking chocolate and normal chocolate… :(:( What can I do???

  46. Okay….call me mother-of-the-groomzilla…but I can’t wait to make these for my son’s upcoming wedding. Do you think these would freeze?

Also, I’ve seen some darling bride and groom cake pops…haven’t located any directions…do you have any ideas?

  47. I just make it during the weekends and my friends loves it!!… Can’t wait to try other of your creative recipe. :)

  48. When I first found your blog, this was the very first thing I bookmarked. I love oreos, I love truffles and i love CHOCOLATE!

  49. I’m a little late finding these and yet right on time! I bought Oreos and my hubby asked me last night if I wanted some, and I said “sure, but I was going to make Oreo truffles” he promptly said “NEVERMIND make the truffles” So I think I will make the kisses with little messages and take them to his office on Friday, it’s our anniversary. So perfect timing! Thanks so much for all of your great ideas! I CAN’T Wait for your book!!!

  50. how many grams is 1 pack of oreos.. or how many pieces does 1 pack of oreo contain?

    thank u..?:)

  51. Hello! You’re truly a baking genius with inestimable talent! Anyway, i’m really excited to try this but there’s one thing troubling me – how do i roll the mixtures into balls and subsequently mould them into kisses? Aren’t they mushy/liquid-y? Sorry, amateur in the house ^^v

    Please do help! Tanks!

  52. This looks really cool You have Great Ideas.

  53. I made these for V-day this year and they are delicious!!! My hubby brought them to work and all of his co-workers loved it. So easy to make and they look and taste amazing! I love your website.

  54. I just made these today and to make the little happy valentines day paper coming out of the kiss…. i printed on white tissue paper. It looked identicle to the actually kisses! If anyone has any problems getting it through the printer… i taped the edges to a normal sheet of paper then just cut the messages out later! it worked out great!

  55. I just made the giant kisses tonight for our “Fun Friday” desert. With Valentine’s Day being a few days away, it was a perfect idea!! The kids were so impressed and loved them. I love the recipie but my only complaint is I don’t know how to dip. It never looks smooth and proffesional. I usually use semi-sweet chocolat chips. Is that why?
Tried the cake pops last Fun Friday….. awsome!
    Love this website!!!

  56. Hi Bakerella,

i have a question for you. I live in Europe and i have tried (well I did 2 years ago) making your brownie bites. My problem is finding a chocolate equivalent. I have not been able to find anything like chocolate bark, candy melts, candy coating, etc… nothing like this. When I did the brownie bites before I just melted chocolate and butter…. but it hardened so quickly and it took FOREVER… so any tips/idea would be so helpful, thanks!!!

  57. disregard that last post…just found your answer! thank you bakerella!

  58. how many kisses can one bag of oreo’s yield?

  59. danielle – store in the fridge if you use cream cheese

    deb – a least a couple dozen

patrick – the colored ones are vanilla flavored

katrina – bark, candy melts, candy coating, compound coating, confectioners’ coating – can all be used

  60. I may seem completely crazy, but what is chocolate bark? When I think of “bark” I think of almond bark that you get at bakeries. Is it just pure chocolate in bar form?

Thanks in advance! Your blog is my favorite :)

  61. OMG I can’t believe how simple and easy some of these recipes are to make. THANK YOU!! these will come in very handy for Valentines day! I just wanted to ask you about the candy melts, I found a place that sells the wilton melts, and just wanted to know if the colored ones(pink, blue, etc) were flavored as chocolate or if there was a certain flavor depending on color?

  62. how stupid!!!!

  63. dumb!!!!

  64. Hi Bakerella!

How many truffles does this recipe make (if I make them about the same size as you did)? Forgive me if I missed the info – I’ve read up and down the page a couple of times and don’t see it. Thanks!

  65. hi i love all your ideas one question how do i store them and for long you think they can last

  66. oh my god that is the greatest thing ever!!! =D

  67. I live close to Hershey PA, so Hershey Kisses are quite common around here. But these!!! They’ll really be a surprise to my grandkids when I mail some to them. Maybe I’ll even try to send some to my son in Afghanistan!

  68. Steffy – can’t remember how many are in a package, but it’s almost the entire thing.

Karen – you may have to add some shortening to the melted chocolate to make it easier to dip.

  69. Bakerella! You have such a cute site, I love all your creative recipes. For this one does regular hersheys chocolate bars work as a substitute for the chocolate bark? I just went to the market to get all the ingredients and really want to try it with hersheys… and maybe if I get it right this time i’ll try the “golden oreos”… also i love your red velvet cookie recipe. maybe show us how to make golden cakesters?? :) thanks!!!! <3

  70. Hi Bakerella sorry but how many oreos are exactly needed? Dumb question but i’m really curious =(

  71. How many does this recipe make? I’m planning on making them for a party of 10, but don’t know if I should buy less cream cheese. Thanks!

  72. Who do you think you are coming here to criticize? Bakerella…you’re awesome. no complaints here.

  73. I have been chomping at the bit to make these!! I made an Oreo and a red velvet version (they're posted here: http://willowbirdbaking.wordpress.com/2009/08/15/red-velvet-and-oreo-kisses/). My boyfriend LOVED them! Thanks for all your wonderful ideas, Bakerella.

  74. Sorry gentle luxury. I don't remember. probably around 30s a good guess.

  75. I'm considering making these — my girlfriend asked me out using a hershey kiss — but I don't want to make too many. What's the yield # of kisses on your 38 cookies:8oz cream cheese ratio?? Obviously halving would be pretty easy if necessary, or if it will only be a handful too many I can leave them out for family to devour.

Thanks so much for including these brilliant recipes with your delicious-looking concoctions!!

  76. Ott Cakes – wow. I know what you mean. I made 200+ cake pops at one time before and it was exhausting.

  77. hi , im bushed but satisfied i decided to combine your 3 ideas of the kisses, choc box and oreo Cake hearts and creat it for a order of 300 hearts for a party in SA the customer loved them i had a blast making them (i can no longer feel my feet tho) but i love your blog and it is making my bussiness grow in leaps and bounds Thanks you truly are AWESOME

  78. Becky
    1. Yes
    2. Yes
    3. If you're not using cream cheese, the counter is fine in an airtight container. They'll last for several days.

    SHARNA – blushing.

Anonymous – nope. it's chocolate or vanilla candy coating.

    http://astore.amazon.com/bakerella-20?%5Fencoding=UTF8&node=11

JENNIE! – Cool. I'm sure your daughter was impressed.

  79. I made these for the Valentines party at my daughters 3rd grade class. they were a huge hit!! And they taste SO good. Thanks!!

  80. Hey Bakerella i was just wondering if chocolate bark is like dark bread crumps for example the oreo ones

  81. UR MY HERO

  82. Hi Bakerella! I love your blog, your ideas are genious!

    I have a few questions about the kisses;
    1) Could I use regular chocolate cake mix? I ate out all the oreos… by accident of course.
    2) Would it be possible to substitute the cream cheese with store bought frosting?
    3) The most important question I have: how long can I keep these little things for? Would it be best to store them in the freezer or the fridge?

Thanks so much! I’ll definately be making a batch of these for my friends this Valentine’s Day. :)
    Such a great idea!

  83. Michelle – Sure.

    Paper – regular printer paper

font – ?? Helvetica Condensed maybe

Stacey – you can definitely try it. You’ll have to experiment with the proportions, though.

  84. Is possible to substitute cream cheese for something else? Frosting?
I don’t usually like the taste of it with chocolate.

  85. Hopefully you’ll see this almost a year after the original post! I am going to make these for an office pot luck and I was curious what did you use to make the flags? I mean paper, font, any info you could possibly remember! Thank you so much! I LOVE your blog!

  86. Carla – you might be sticking them too far in. Only put it about the halfway point of the ball. Also, make sure the coating surrounds the ball at the base of the stick.

To thin chocolate, you can add a couple of drops of vegetable oil.

  87. Hi , Im from SA (SOUTH AFRICA) and i love the site you cakes and cake pops are stunning
ive tried the cake pop and im must be missing a trick as minealways end up at the bottom end of the stick please help,
also what d i do to make the Chocolate runny enough for coating

    thnaks

    Carla

  88. monica – you should be able to.

Jaime- why thanks a bunch Jaime!

  89. I have to disagree with Divina Baking Diva…how much better can these look? They look amazing!

  90. Where do you get all this ideas…really, you are a GENIUS!!!. I want to make all of them.
But for now i´ll start with the kisses and I had a question, can I make this kisses with a cake recipe? have you tried it?

    Tks

  91. linsey-woolsey – I haven’t tried nestle morsels, but I can only imagine it was difficult to work with. You know now why the candy coating or bark works best. And, I think your idea of flattening them would have been great as reversed oreos. Very cute.

  92. Hi, I stumbled onto your site this week by looking for places to buy Nutter-Butters in bulk, and while here, discovered some yummy and cute things, including the Oreo Truffles. My boss’s birthday is today, so I decided yesterday that I’d make them. My son did my shopping and he didn’t get the white bark. Instead he got Nestles’ white morsels, and it didn’t work out right. I’m such a fumbler at coatings that usually I pipe them on, but didn’t try because of the lumps, etc., so I blobbed some on top, let it set just long enough to blob the tops of the rest, then turned each one over and blobbed the new top. Because the bottom had spread, they almost looked like reversed oreos; if I’d been clever, I’d have flattened them before blobbing the second time, but in the middle of it all that didn’t occur to me. They are a great hit despite not looking much like a truffle because of the things above, and what I just noticed that kelly said. Before I try this again, I will fall back on something I KNOW will work for me: Dig out my candy molds and brush the coating into them, let it set up while I’m rolling the balls (making them small enough to fit inside), and then piping some more coating to cover them. IF I want them on a stick (which is what I set out to do), I can stick them in either before or just after piping the final coating in.

  93. I really hope you have better luck this time. Don’t give up.

  94. okay bakerella, will try. thanks so much for the tips!

  95. omaong – that’s great! Go back to the first method and retry. Just put in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time and stir in between until it is smooth and melted. The texture will probably be a creamy, not liquidy melted chocolate. You can put the kiss on a spoon and submerge in the chocolate, using the same spoon cover the top completely. Then take the spoon and lift the kiss out of the chocolate. Then you’ll want to tap it pretty good several times on the side of your bowl, so the excess falls off. Finally, let the kiss slide off the spoon so the flat side lands on the wax paper. (Tapping is the key) Try not to get any pooling at the bottom. If you do, slide kiss across the wax paper, so when it dries, you can break off any thin remnant amounts of chocolate. I hope this helps some.

  96. dear bakerella, thanks to the link you sent I was able to find a local distributor for Wilton’s products. I was overjoyed ;) Got the candy melts BUT it didn’t work out. 1st batch that I melted in the microwave turned lumpy (i think i overheated it), 2nd batch I tried the double boiling method but it didn’t melt to the right consistency. It’s more to the ‘creamy’ texture so I wasn’t able to dip the kisses properly. How do I achieve the choc fondue texture? Any recovery action that I can take? Thanks a lot!

  97. omaong – you’re sweet. I’m usually not that quick to respond, but you got lucky… I had just sat down at the computer. Let me know how things go!

  98. hi bakerella, that was a quick reply, thanks!
I have not seen the products that you mentioned in stores here (I’m in KL), I guess I’ll have to keep my fingers crossed that the chop chips will work.
Thanks anyway, and keep up the fantastic work. You have no idea how inspired i am. :) If you ever teach a class and I can be there, I’ll be the 1st one to sign up ;) Cheers!

  99. I haven’t tried them with choc chips, so I don’t know if they are going to work out like you would want.

Can you get the candy melts/wafers/discs where you are. They are little round discs used for candy coating. That’s what I use if I don’t use the bark.

    Wilton brand makes some.

But if the chips are all you have, go for it. Good Luck!

  100. hi bakerella,
i tried making kisses yesterday. Part 1 (which was mushing the cream cheese and oreos together) was successful ;). However part 2 is a different story altogether! I can’t get chocolate barks where I am so I naively substituted with baking chocolate. Wrong call huh…the choc won’t melt properly. Anyway after wasting one precious kisses, I decided to abort the project. So today I’m getting a pack of Hershey’s semi sweet choc chips and will try again. Any advise please? I have about 40 kisses sitting in the freezer waiting to be coated. :)

  101. adrienne – that sounds really great. I plan on making the mint ones soon and realized the ratios would be off, so thanks for the tip.

fyi – I’ve also seen off brand mint oreos that are the same size as the regular ones. But, so far I can’t find oreo brand mint ones that aren’t Double Stuf.

  102. Bakerella!

Thanks for the camera info, you rock! I tried the kisses today however my hubby bought the mint double stuffed (he’s a little partial to those). So I had to work with it, here’s what I came up with.

    38 pairs of oreo wafers
filling from 20 of the oreos/discard the rest
    8 oz. cream cheese.

I then ground wafers, set aside
in a mixer mix cream cheese and filling to a smooth consistency, add wafer crumbs.

Shape and mold. I did one tray hand rolled and shaped and then I thought, hey maybe I could pipe these. Sure enough they worked GREAT piped and went a lot faster. By the time they were dipped I couldn’t even tell which were which (except that my hand-mades were a tad bigger. After they set with the regualr chocolate, I drizzled some melted ghiradelli mint chips on top and they look cute! All credit goes to you though, thanks for the great blog!

  103. those are fabulous! love them!

  104. thanks jessica!

  105. Wow, your cookie truffles are genius.

  106. Bakerella could you contact me at:

I would have some questions for you… :)

    Thank you.

    a.

  107. rachel – I bought some today so I could count for you. There are 45. So use about 38 when you mix with cream cheese.

ana – I have a canon rebel xti and I have loved every minute of it.

  108. Again….love all your work. And I love your beautiful photos too. What camera do you use?

I can’t wait for your new post.

    :) a.

  109. Hi Bakerella!

I would like to ask, how many pieces of oreo is there in a pack? I’m from Singapore and i guess the packaging varies from country to country?

  110. ana – thanks. I’ll have to check hers out.

julia – those are super cute groundhogs.

larry – not sure, maybe your cream cheese was too softened? But I’m glad you and your girlfriend enjoyed!

blogawards – Wow! Thanks. Can’t wait to check it out.

    rachelle – thanks

tracey – you shouldn’t be afraid. Just grab a box and read the direections and start playing. (Just have a clean surface, rolling pin, corn starch, cookie cutters, and some concentrated decorating colors) Just start small and have fun.

  114. These look wonderful! I will have to give them a try sometime.

I love how you photograph your creations. No matter what I do, my photos look lousy. Do you use a special light? I can tell you do something special for the backdrops.

Great site – I’ve got you bookmarked now. Found you on Baking Bites.

  122. Bakerella,

I wanted to let you know that I made the dipped lollipops from your earlier posts. I made it exactly like yours…red velvet w/pink coating. The first several were tricky, but I certainly got it down to a science and they turned out beautifully.
I ened up with nearly 60 of them and my both my daughter’s classes are going to be thrilled when I bring them in for Valentine’s Day tomorrow! My husband ate one and couldn’t get over how delicious and cute they were!
Thank you for sharing your creativity and by doing so, making me feel pretty creative too!
P.S. I found that freezing them in small groups on plastic plates allowed me to pull out 6-7 at a time. I froze them for a few hours and they held up great in the warmed chocolate. It also aided in the cooling/setting of the chocolate coating.
I am just tickled about them. Can’t wait to try to oreo balls sometime soon!
I’m a BIG fan and thanks again!!!

  123. I made these today for my girlfriend, and they came out to be pretty good! Except, I thought they were kinda a little sweet for me, but then again, I don’t have a high tolerance for sweets, and mine were a littleee bigger. And was it just mine or was the truffle filling really really oily? I didn’t use bark, but I used some Ghiradelli baking chocolate and it turned out okay. All in all, a pretty successful venture. Great recipe and idea, thanks!

  124. Hi Bakerella,

I found you blog today by via NotMartha.com. You ideas are brilliant and I cannot wait to make those little mini cupcakes on a stick!! I will be reading you blog now daily — yes, it’s that cool!

Your Ho! Ho! Ut Oh cupcakes made me want to share with you a treat I made last year (and this year) for Groundhog Day. I use tootsie rolls for the groundhogs but I think using your candy-bark coated cake would be a better eating experience. http://dozenflours.com/2007/02/groundhog-day-celebration-cupcakes_02.html (BTW I promise I picked this template a long, long time ago :-))

    You rock!!
    Julia

  125. Wow, you are full of great ideias!!
I really like your blog, so many cool pictures!!

Thanks for sharing all your creations with us, I am going to have some fun browsing your recipes!
    Ana

  126. Wow!!!!!! Thanks everyone for the really great comments!

kelly – I used the regular oreo package, not the double stuf. I went to the nabisco site. I think it’s the 18 oz. package that I used. (the whole package, minus about seven cookies.) I’ll count how many comes in the package next time.

megan – thanks for the tip.

    hungry in hoboken – funny!

wyeinnazi – No, not sour…they’ll be sweet. And the chocolate does harden, but I wouldn’t call it brittle.

  127. heya bakerella, is it meant to be a teeny sourish due to the cheese? and the chocolate that it’s coated with is a tad brittle right?

  128. An adorable idea!!!

  129. *You rock* Bakerella! I don’t think I have time to make these before tomorrow, but I’ll get around to them. Thanks for the great recipe, photo, and instructions!

  130. these are so cute!

  131. Thanks! I’m going to add your link to my blog – heidisrecipes.blogspot.com

  132. I have another amateur-y question. Are you married?

I’m not sure if it’s because of the writer’s strike or because baseball season is still weeks away, but I find myself going back to your blog everyday anticipating the next creation.

I’ve been holding out for a woman who can cook. Someone named Bakerella with an oven… you don’t have a big-screen do you? That would be the trifecta.

You’re desserts look amazing, but if you are ever in need a tastetester… I’m AVAILABLE.

  133. i love your posts. the photography and styling are just beautiful! this is already one of my favourite blogs and my first visit was yesterday!

  134. These are so cute! What a perfect little Valentine’s Day gift. I made the mistake of letting my daughter see these and now she’s begging me to make them.

  135. Love the post. And the kisses.
When I dip, I use a plastic fork with the two middle tines broken off. Works like a charm!

  136. May I offer some suggestions. I am assuming that you are pretty new to this. I would work on how you list recipes as well as presentation. The food while cute, does not look as appetizing as it could. Keep trying and I am sure you will get the hang of it.

  137. Okay, that is the cutest thing ever! You rock! Great ideas.

  138. I love the creations that you come up with! I am so glad that I found your blog!

  139. Oreos come in different sized packages in different areas/countries.

Can you please tell me the exact number of cookies used for this recipe?

    Thanks

  140. These are adorable!! I’ve seen the Oreo truffles on several blogs, but never anything shaped like a kiss!

  141. Oh my god! You done it again! These are adorable! Everything you make is just so cute and adorable! They’re just wonderful!!

    I love your creative ideas!

  142. I just discovered your blog and I want to say that you are a genius! I love love love the creations you made. They are adorable and look delicious. I can’t wait to give some of these recipes a try. Way to go!

  143. I just made the Oreo Cookie Truffles last night and they rock! How amazing, thanks for sharing, now I need to make kisses too – thanks something else to do! :)

  144. These are fantastic!
    What a beautiful idea.

  145. They look delicious. i also have kelly’s problem and thus avoid trying things like this. Thanks for the advice! maybe, it is time to try again! Happy Valentine’s Day!

  146. I agree with Sharyl….You truly are awesome!!!

  147. hmmm… i have some cake balls chillin in the fridge. i am sooooo tempted to take them out and reshape them into kisses…

    have i ever told u? U’RE AWESOME!

  148. kelly – Don’t cry. Maybe this will help a little. I don’t use toothpicks and I use chocolate bark for the most part. I just drop the chilled ball (kiss) in a small bowl of melted chocolate one at a time. Then using a spoon, cover the top of the ball. Then I lift it out of the chocolate using the spoon. Next, tap it several times on the side of the bowl to allow excess to fall off the spoon. Then I let it slide off the spoon onto the wax paper. I also get some puddling sometimes, but I’ll just break that off when it dries if it is excessive.

    Thanks a bunch clara!

  149. What an adorable idea! I love your blog. :)

  150. ok, this is a very amateur-y question, but this is the funny part: I’M NOT AN AMATEUR! i’ve tried to make oreo balls (and other things dipped in chocolate) like 45 times in my short life, and i don’t know how ANYONE does it. i use candy melting chocolate. i freeze the things to be dipped. i’ve tried toothpicks, i’ve tried skewers, i’ve tried spons, etc, and every time, one of three things happen:

-the ball falls off the toothpick or falls apart
    – it ALMOST falls off the toothpick, but after dipping, even if i tap off the excess, the chocolate pools EXCESSIVELY at the bottom (not just a few centimeters)
-one of the above 2 happens and i cry and sit under my desk and suck my thumb for 4 hours

can you help me?! it would be MUCH appreciated.

    love,

    All Wrong in Austin
    (Kelly)
