Hi all – This week is going to be a little unusual for me. I will be putting up several posts over the next few days. Yep. Several in one week. But, none of them include me baking. I know. I know. I’m having withdrawal. I should totally be thinking of Halloween stuff right now. But there’s a couple of things I’d like to tell, show you, share with you, give you… and then next weekend I’ll be back with baking. Something. Anything. Preferably chocolate.
Anyway, this post is an update on Melissa and Rich.
Remember them?
Or these?
If you’ve been following the blog for a while, you’ll recognize these from the sneaky sweet marriage proposal I helped Rich with almost a year ago.
And if not and want to read about it, here’s the post with the proposal.
Then, here’s the post with how it turned out.
And now?
Well, now they are happily married.
And just as cute as can be. I love these two even though we’ve never met.
Rich is a sweetheart and Melissa…
Well, Melissa is a girl after my own heart.
She loves to bake … with a little bit of crazy thrown in on the side.
What did she decide to do days before the wedding?
Make seating cards for everyone attending…
… in the form of decorated cookies, that’s what.
Lot’s and lots of cookies. Personalized and with table assignments piped on.
A seven day process … days before the wedding.
Seriously, Melissa… You rock!
And you’re pretty great at piping, too. I’m jealous.
Too bad you’re all the way in Canada. I would have totally helped you out with these. Shaky letters and all.
Here’s Melissa’s cookie post if you’d like to read about her madness or simply send the cute couple warm wishes.
Congratulations, you two. I’m overflowing with happiness for you and so proud to play a part.
Here’s a link to their wedding video (via baronmedia.ca). It’s really sweet. Play it full screen and make sure you have a tissue handy.
Great job, well done. Keep posting.
tears!
WOW! Amazing video! You guys were so beautiful on your day! Such a wonderful couple! Congratulations! And what a treat for you Bakerella to be part of it!
WOW!! That is amazing!
best wishes to Mr. and Mrs.Gardos!
Awww such a great video!! I luv all the cookies!! I should have listened and gotten some tissue though!! lol! so glad it turned out so beautiful!! Wishing Melissa and Rich unending love and happiness!!
“God is in the details” and you truly nailed that. What amazing work! Beautiful job!
These are super cute!!! I am making Christening cookies for this weekend & would love to pipe the name on like you did…where can I find the recipe for the icing? PLEASE HELP
Adorable – and yummy! Creative proposals are the way to go. I recently got hitched, and I proposed with a video, which I posted at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_NFavhYjxk with an explanation — “I took her to a karaoke club (where I had set things up in advance) and we sang in a private room for a little while. Then, while she went out to grab us a couple of drinks, I cued this video up and hit play when she came back. And the rest is history!”
Melissa – Any chance you would share who made your dress?? I have the the most difficult finding a dress that I am in love with and yours is beyond perfection.
Any information would be amazing!
Congrats to you both!
I’ve watched that video about 10 times. Every moment is lovely. What a beautiful couple, and how tender their care for each other. Many years of happiness to these dear souls.
WOW! She is super-human. I had to pick my jaw up off the ground after reading through her post. Just stunning.
Absolutely breathtaking!! I have been a bakerella fan from the beginning and I am sure the unravelling of this story line is one of her favourite creations that she helped ‘bake’ up!! Isn’t life…and love great!! As George Strait says; “It’s not the breaths you take but the moments that take your breath away.” that get you through the day!!
I definitely remember this post and it’s the sweetest thing in the world! what a cute couple.
Congratulations!!!!!
I’m so gonna steal the cookie seating card…one day…when my day comes :-)…beautiful couple, so glad you posted an update. Congrats.
Masel tov to the happy couple!
These are real cute and all, but I would NOT want to have share the cookie with my husband :)
I really loved the original post it was such a sweet story.
The video was very moving. Bakerella hope u can accept more special “blog” posts .
Thanks for sharing that video. It looked like a great day. Wow can’t believe she found time to do the cookies the week of the wedding. What a great idea.
This is pretty amazing! =D Melissa is amazing for making all of those cookies!!
That is seriously the most beautiful wedding video I’ve ever seen!
Thank for sharing. What a sweet story! Congrats to Rich and Melissa.
OMG, Bakerella you never cease to amaze me. I started crying just reading your update post. Then I read the proposal and cried even more. Needless to say their wedding video had me bawling. Not only are you an awesome baker you are a very sweet person.
I SO rmember the proposal (I thought it really was just the most romantic and sweetest thing ever!) and I am so happy for the lovely lovely couple!!! I can’t believe Melissa made those for the seating . . . holy cow! She’s a gem, for sure!!!
Way to go Melissa! I made my wedding cake for 200, so I know what is must have been like right before your wedding. Although things were hectic and sometimes stressful for me the days before the wedding, I am so glad that I made my cake. It sure added a nice touch to my special day as the cookies did for yours.
What an awesome idea. I’ve been married for 8 years, but I have a sister who I think would love this idea!
That’s awesome and amazing! :) I never even thought of that for an idea, how cool!! :)
Those cookies are so awesome!! I can’t imagine how sore her hands must have been after all that piping!
OMG how wonderful. He married very well, but he knows that!!
I’ve been following her blog!! Shes great!
I love the cookies, and loveeeed the video. What a great memory you 2 will have. I just hope my wedding is half as amazing as yours looked!
Congrats! =)
My daughters are both in their twenties and full of independent I don’t need you anymore spirit so it brought a tear to my eye when the oldest said recently to a friend, “The one thing I know to let my Mom do is plan my wedding. She’s organized and besides, we’ll have great food and I know she would make a cake as pretty as anyone.”
Or maybe cookies? What a labor of love…and I loved it!
This is just too cute!
What a great update. They make an absolutely adorable couple. And those cookies Melissa…..AWESOME. Beautiful piping, I must say. You probably have great handwriting! Loved the video too. Made me cry for sure.
Enjoy your lives together, what a sweet start.
Hey Everyone,
This is “Rich”. Melissa and I want to thank everyone for all of their comments…it means a lot to us! Married life is great and the honeymoon was amazing! Our wedding day was incredible and we had sooo much fun. We wanted to share our wedding highlights video with Bakerella and in turn with all her followers because you were all part of our “story”. We’ve had a blast sharing this time in our lives with everyone. What can we say about Bakerella? Simply put she’s extraordinary and no doubt will become a daily household name. Her book is AMAZING and we highly recommend you pick it up if you haven’t already. Like Bakerella mentions…it’s funny because we’ve never met her but yet she’s played such an important part in our lives. We’re forever thankful and are left with a lifetime of memories thanks to her. Thanks again! FYI – the song in the video is called “Be My Only” by Schuyler Fisk and Tim Myers…it was our wedding song.
What a sweet couple and how charming are those cookies! I am so impressed by her perfect lettering and stamina to make all those beautiful cookies. Bravo!
That is so so so adorable.
thanks for posting the link!!! OMG what work she did days before her wedding!! LOVE this idea.
Hey – thought I would share something we did at our wedding recently – we put a bag on every table that contained home baked gingerbread men and ladies and decorations. As an ice-breaker we then asked everyone to decorate a gingerbread man or woman of the person to their left – meaning that we ended up with a full gingerbread man congregation. My dad made a little stand for them all to stand in too! We used a photo of this as our Thank You cards.
Very sweet. Her insanity is even higher than my own! My wedding was very DIY, but I didn’t make the cake or make food-based displays or favors. (Though I could have happily made my own cake… almost makes me wish I had done so.)
Thanks for the update! The proposal was the best :) I watched their wedding video…it was beautiful. It sent me on a mad search to download the song the used but I can’t find it anywhere. Does anyone know where to buy it?
So sweet!!! <3
Oh, I remember the proposal post. They are just too adorable! (The couple AND the cookies).
Aww!! What a darling couple! So nice to see a followup. And those cookies!! Wow!!

Oh my goodness! That is the sweetest thing!
So sweet! I love the way he proposed.
Congratulations to them, and that is A LOT of cookies!!
That’s amazing! I made cake pop placecards for my wedding… still a lot of work but I printed tags instead of piping names!

Love these! How fun! You rock!
Bakerella, when you started this blog did you ever (in your wildest mind) think you would have touched so many people in such a wonderful way? Not to mention how you have inspired so many of us. I will never look at a piece of candy or a dragee’ the same way again. Now I think of them as possibilities…
Aw that is so sweet! And wow, that is a lot of work! Melissa, in your wedding picture you look like Rachael Ray- only prettier!!
That is crazy awesome!!!
Happily Ever After! That was such a special proposal…I still tell people about it and I’ve never met them or you. So glad to see they are married and look as happy as ever!!
Awww cute! That wedding looks like so much fun!

Great work on the cookies :)
I love this history. It´s so romantic and so beautiful! Congrats to Melissa and Rich!
BTW, Melissa, what cookie recipe did you use?
Your video was AMAZING, Melissa. Cried like a baby and I don’t even know you!
BTW, I made 1700 cookies for my daughter’s wedding, then I made these (with BLUE ribbons):

Congrats, Melissa and Rich!
Loved the video!
My daughter (aged 4) said while watching it (and obviously without having read your “have a tissue handy” comment) “I’m not going to cry, I’m not”. When I asked her what she meant she said: they’re so cute together and so beautiful and that makes me wanna cry :-)
Thank you and big kiss X from Amsterdam, Holland
I am beyond impressed! I can barely manage to make two school lunches the night before let alone 175 cookies days before my big wedding. Yikes!
The video totally made me cry. Thanks for sharing!
SO Cute!!!!
How stinkin’ cute is that! Congrats to the happy couple!
Wow, that’s pretty amazing! I couldn’t even do that if I had all the time in the world; not to mention if I was getting ready for my wedding. Beautiful!! :)
I LOVE the cookie placecards idea!!! Fantastic! I’m so happy to see this couple through their engagement and wedding :) Beautiful!
this is so cute! i love how supportive the baking community can be. :)
what a sweet guy Rich is… Melissa looks so blissful!! I’m tearing just by reading these posts!
my hand hurts just thinking about all that piping. how cute though.
WOW! Seriously impressive on her part! Good on you for inspiring them and helping them get to this big day! :) They really are a good-looking couple, and he’s shown how thoughtful he is, so that bodes well for the whole marriage. Awesome men, unite!
Awww….I remember the proposal too! That is so ridiculously cute!
Oh my gosh that is a lot of cookies! She did a great job!
WOW! I can’t believe all those cookies and the time she took to do them.
Bakerella, I remember you posting the proposal… Super sweet of you!
Wow. Wow. Wow. Ditto on everything that’s been posted. I’m amazed. Congrats to the happy couple! And to Bakerella!
Oh, what a beautiful wedding and beautiful couple! She really went beyond the call of duty making all of those cookie place cards! Like she had nothing to do the week before her wedding! Thanks for sharing!
I am so happy for them. Melissa is so lucky to have found a man that pays attention to what she is interested in. It is a fabulous way to show someone you love them.
May they both always be happy and in love.
So adorable! The video made me cry just like every other wedding related thing does these days since I’m helping one of my best friends plan hers and it’s coming up next month!
Those cookies are so cute!
Congrats!!! Thats a beautiful story!
Oh, man. I can’t believe you piped so much! And I just LOVED that proposal post you did. It was way too cute!
My hand aches just thinking about it!
This is the sweetest engagement/wedding story every. The proposal was genius! How wonderful to be a part of someone’s happiness in such an unexpected way. The blogworld rocks.
Adorable! Congratulations & best wishes Melissa and Rich!
Oh my lands. How adorable are they? “BakerFella”?!!!
I love romance…
Thanks for the smile Melissa and Rich and Bakerella!
The video really was sweet!
Awww! This is so sweet :). Glad you gave us an update; and glad that it turned out so positive! All the best to them.
I made wedding cake pops for my favors for my wedding in July. I used strawberry cake so the inside would be pink and my mom piped royal icing flowers to put on the tops. They were amazing, but hard to see in the pictures because of the cellophane wrapping.
That is so sweet! Oh and P.S. I got my book today, and practically ran home (with my shepherd chow akita mix running ahead of me, and my dachshund jack russell mix trying to keep up) to open it and read it! Oh so wonderful!
Wow! That is a tonne of piping! Looks so awesome :)
