“I’ve been a big fan for quite some time! Your site has been an inspiration for me in so many ways. Thanks a lot! These were my first attempts at making cake pops. I’ve seen and read a lot about them in your blog, and have always wanted an occasion to make them. The holidays were the perfect time to try them out! I had this idea of presents, and making cube shaped cake balls to mimic the present shape. This cake was a chocolate cake recipe made from scratch with significantly reduced sugar to balance the sweetness of the frosting and coating. Some members of my family are diabetic so I’ve always had to reduce the sugar to all of my cakes so that they can eat it! (The sugar is definitely not missed in these cake pops :) ) The decorations were made of marshmallow fondant. I used a pair of scissors to cut them out and everything was glued together with a touch of royal icing. The snowman was actually the first fondant figure I’ve ever made in a class I took, and I thought that it’d be cute with the cake pops!” – Minh

I love this Minh in California !! :)
What a cute idea, these would be great at birthdays, showers and the holidays! My favorite marshmallow fondant recipe is found here http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Marshmallow-Fondant/Detail.aspx I don’t use butter though, I use shortening and also my kitchenaide mixer instead of kneading.
I love the idea of marshmallow fondant. Is that something you buy or make yourself? I would the love the recipe if it is home made. taylorjudi@hotmail.com. The present pops are adorable.
very cute
Beautiful! I think I’m going to attempt these! Don’t be afraid of fondant Deborah, it’s not too bad. The first time I used it I made a three tiered cake complete with stripes and polka dots!
Wow! These are adorable. I love love love the bow. I am afraid of fondant, just can’t get it to work right. And that’s a great idea to cut back the sugar. Lord knows there’s quite enough sugar with the frosting, cake, coating, etc. My mom’s diabetic, so I should try to cut back the sugar so she could enjoy one. Thanks for sharing these. They are great!
