2008 should bring some better baking

After years of using a cheap hand mixer, I’ve finally moved to the big leagues with my brand new Kitchenaid artisan stand mixer. I was totally surprised to get this pink beauty for Christmas. Now I just have to decide what to bake first. Here’s to better baking!

  7. Congrads! I wish I had one!

  8. Oh that’s soo pretty. I want one! Is that one of the professional ones that you can make go higher or lower? I really want one.

  9. I just gave my sister my extra silver Kitchenaide. She loves it as much as I love mine! :)

  10. Oh I have a pink kitchenaid too! Loooove it so much!

  11. The pink makes me smile. I have definitely not gotten sick of it. But my kitchen is mostly white so it works.

  12. Hi Bakerella,

Do you think the pink color is practical and/or have you gotten sick of it yet? I am trying to decide what color to get and pink is on the top of my list but I am not sure if it would be practical…

  13. ittstime2live777@aim.com – The short answer is yes.

    The long answer is …

If you don’t do a lot of baking you can get by with the hand mixer.

I used a cheap one forever, but now that I bake often I won’t go back. I really do love the kitchenaid. I have the Artisan. It’s great to let it do all the work. And the stainless steel bowls with the handles are priceless.

If you decide to buy one, check around. You can usually get one on sale for around 270 or 280 at stores like Macy’s or Kohls. Try amazon, too.

  14. so do you think a kitchenaid is worth the 300 dollars? were debating on whether or not to buy one, see we have an ok hand mixer which i just switched too which helps but isnt great it makes a mess and we have a stand mixer but its from the early 80s and doesnt do much of anything but sit there [ its just a cheap brand]

so are kitchenaids up to the hype?

  15. janell- thanks for the link. Awesome.

My favorite thing in the whole world is my kitchenaid. I use it for EVERYTHING – even mixing up instant pudding, haha. The link above is for my favorite gadget – it scrapes the bowl for you! It even cleans the little divot in the bottom of the bowl.

  17. Thanks Betheny!

  18. Amen to the Kitchen Aid!! I got a professional one for my B-Day last year and I can’t live without it! Love your work, by the way. You are so inspiring and I love to see new ideas. I’m totally going to try those oreo bites! LOVE the idea.

    Love,
    Betheny

  19. linda lu – What a great surprise. Sweet husband. I’ve had baking on the mind so much, I haven’t even thought of how great it will be to make mashed potatoes in.

  20. I just found your blog… wow! Great stuff and nice pictures! I can’t wait to try some of your recipes. I am commenting on this particular post because I too, received a KitchenAid this Christmas. I didn’t even ask for it (it never occured to me). My husband bought it because he said he was tired of watching me mix everything by hand. I absolutely love it. Great for large batches of mashed potatoes. I’ve even made bread and pizza dough recently.

  21. Thanks jennica.
