I was going to take my niece to see the movie, Kung Fu Panda, but just my luck, she had already seen it. So, instead we made panda bear cupcakes from the super cutest decorating book, Hello, Cupcake! As soon as I saw the picture of these in the book, I knew I had to make them. And when I came across the Strawberry Milkshake flavored Oreos, it was a done deal… my pandas would be pink.
But, get to the grocery store if you want some of these cookies. They are a limited edition and who knows when they’ll go away.
We made about six pandas (along with a big mess). Make sure you set aside some time for these. I underestimated how much we would need, so we frosted the rest with plain pink buttercream.
I highly recommend the book, though. The decorating directions are great and it has recipes, too (I used the homemade vanilla for these cupcakes). Now, there’s only one drawback I see to this book. All of our cupcakes are going to start looking alike because the ideas are so cute. Here’s a sample so you can see what I mean.
Actually, those sunflowers may be showing up around my house soon. What about you guys… any preference?
I have only had chocolate oreo .. its about time I try strawberry and gift this to my niece … looks Yummy !!!!
yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Bakeralla,

I love the Hello Cupcake books! I have made the pandas before as well!
we tried making these and had some issues. What did you use for the ears? we found chocolate cheerios but they are too small. And what did you use to pipe the claws and eye pupils?
I just made those panda cucakes for valentine’s day and made the sunflowers for Kansas Day. They were a hit and very easy to do!!! I love that book and I just bought the new one too!
Hi, your cupcakes are absolutely adorable and we have a child lab (preschool) at our highschool and one of our days was a bear day i came across this and was wondering if you could share how you made them i would really like to make them for the kids. Unfortunetly it is next week so please if you can get back to be as soon as possible it would be much appreciated.
Thank you so much
A Huge Fan :)
I love this book. I made the vanilla ones you talked about and they totally fell apart. You should look at them sometime… maybe you could tell me what I did wrong. My blog is sarah.hewetts.net and they are labled “fail cupcakes” I would grately appreciate it if you checked out my blog :)
dumbkoff me. Idioso is in da house.
THAT BOOK ROCKS!!! I was planning to make those pandamonium pandas ASAP, but sorry myself.
I have that 1!
Ha! I got that book for my birthday! Haven’t tried anything yet, but the PINK PANDAS sound AMAZING!!!! Thank you, Bakerella, for your never ending inspiration!
I’m IN LOVE with panda bears and think it’s super cute that you made them pink! I made the sunflower cupcakes from that book for a tea party with friends over the summer, and they turned out adorable.
Hello! I frequent your blog all the time and really enjoy it! I want to make these for my lil’ girl’s 1st bd on Sunday. What did you use for the ears? I read that Post Oreo cereal is discontinued, and I can see you used something else. Anyhow, if you see this comment, maybe you can help me out! thanks
Awesome!
Do you have the recepie? I really want to make them sometime :-)
If I do, I will impress the teachers on my school because we have “cookgame” soon :-D
I hope you post the recepie on this cool blog!
AWW! Your cupcakes look as good as the ones in the cookbook! I must buy that book.
These are adorable! I can’t wait to make them. I made your recipe for the oreo balls and they were to die for. They literally were gone in a day and so easy. I love your website!
I saw that book at Costco last year! I thought it was so cute, and I was going to buy it, but I can’t cook :(
Thanks for this site Bakerella! You’ve given me a lot of ideas, and I need them in time for Christmas! :D
what did u use for the heads and nails?
because I come from The Netherlands and
i really wanna make this little cute oreo pandas!
Kebi – And the sunflowers totally look do-able. The colors really pop, too.
I purchased that book several weeks ago at Walmart and have been drooling over the pages ever since. I really like the butterflies in the book that are made with the candy melts. After reading your tutorials, I think I could probably make these butterfly cupcakes.
I also LOVED the sunflower cupcakes, especially the idea of putting them in little pots.
jill scott – Gutsy and great. The sharks scared me. That’s why I started with the pandas.
I LOOOOOVE your blog and I can’t wait to try your cute cupcake pops.
I recently bought this “Hello Cupcake!” book and I also love it. I just attempted to make the Shark Attack cupcakes and they were pretty challenging. Check out my blog entry about them if you want to see the carnage at:
http://controllingmychaos.blogspot.com/2008/08/pool-party-time-and-carnage.html
the crocketts – I think you should do the dogs. They are awesome. But if you want to play it safe, try the sunflowers.
I just got that book from a friend! It has some really cute ideas. I haven’t decided which cupcake to make for my first try.
megan – That’s the beauty of photos. You can enjoy from afar.
caitycake – can’t wait to see.
Hi bakerella,
Love the cupcakes! I have that cookbook and i was debating between the pandas and the sunflowers. I went with the sunflowers! Sorry :). The Sunflowers do turn out VERY CUTE! Check out my blog, i’m going to post them soon, hopefully.
Sooo, I love your blog, but it’s just too bad that I saw those strawberry milkshake Oreo’s. Why is it too bad? B/c I have baby weight I need to lose and that isn’t going to happen by eating all of your delish ideas!! ;)
Thanks ahaha
I heart cupcakes – have fun!
everything Carrie Me! – I love it, too!
That book is great!! My Mom got it for me for Mother’s day, Love IT!!

Rachel – I’m leaning towards the sunflowers.
Gill – I had never seen them before a couple of weeks ago.
those are so cute, I have never seen strawberry oero’s up here in Canada
I would love to see you try the shark and sunflower cupcakes. Perfect for summer! I love checking your site, keep up the great work!
Ok, I’ve been holding off on getting that book (even though I’ve wanted it for a while!) But those pandas are too stinkin’ cute!!!! Unfortunately, my waistline probably can’t take much more of these sweets. I mean, between the oreo truffles, sprite cake, cupcake pops…you get the idea!! lol
p.s. I just added you to my sidebar and did a post about you, I hope you don’t mind. I used your chocolate technique to make some Charlie & Lola garnishes, thanks!
hey! I got you on my bookmark. Then i saw this ‘gampang dapetin 50juta’ add in your blog. Oh, ternyata we speak the sampe mother language :)
Salam kenal. I just got the same book and about to do the butterfly one tomorrow…
I looooooove Hello, Cupcake and I just found your blog and love it, too! The pink idea is great & thanks for all the other fun ideas. We’re off to make some 4th of July cupcake pops! Thanks!:)

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute!
I love it in pink. ADORABLE!
I just gave you a blog award on my blog (again).
Hi Bakerella, love the pink pandas! I think the bug cupcakes would be awesome for a boy’s birthday party (or a girl’s if she is into bugs). I so enjoy your blog and your creations! Have a wonderful Independence Day!!!
I just found your site, and LOVE it! Can you go ahead and show us some cute 4th of July cupcakes? Hopefully, they won’t be too hard and I can make them for this 4th! All the cupcakes are so cute!

I have been reading and looking at this blog for a while. I just love what you can do with cupcakes. Those Oreo’s lokk so yummy. I am determined to try some of your ideas, but we are getting ready to move from Utah to Kentucky.. so maybe when we settle down in our new home.
Absolutely darling!!!
You rock!
Those pandas are adorable! I just about wept, they were so freaking cute! Are their heads mini-cupcakes?
Oh, and her gloves could be red to match her red hourglass. That’s what I was thinking. Your oreo/panda cookies are so cute, I love them.
You’re so talented! I love your work.
My son would love those bug cupcakes. You could make some black widows too, that would be cool. Put some opera length gloves over her arms and add some eyelashes and things like that, embellish a bit…. I love the shark cupcakes too and the sunflowers are very pretty. How about poppies?
Sounds like the big mess paid off with huge cuteness. OK, a little off topic but who knew there were Strawberry Milkshake Oreos? Talk about pleasure, pleasure, pleasure! OK, back on topic. As for your next one to try, being a horror movie fan I vote for Jaws! Of course, then again, this book seems to be seriously lacking in Zombie cupcakes???
Hi, this is Noor from Ya Salam Cooking! I just love seeing all the yummy things that you bake and hope that you can participate in this months baking event, we would love to have you join!
http://themiddleeasterncook.blogspot.com/2008/06/baking-round-up-1.html

The shark ones will be making an apperance at my Jimmy Buffett party!!
Oh how I love this blog!
My daughters & I check it out ALL THE TIME- you are so amazing!

Rumpflugan regular ones are still super cute. Hope you have a nice weekend, too!

devona I hope yout pops come out perfect.

Stella – thank you
Mevrouw Cupcake – If you get the book, I’m sure the kids will find you.
Alicia – definitely.
My Sweet & Saucy – Thanks!
giz – that’s what I like about doing things like this. You surprise yourself with what you can do.
micnmax – I wanted to make pink and white pandas at first, but I couldn’t find any pink sandwich cookies. These were the next best thing.
Pieceful Bits – thanks
Blogger LizB – nothing wrong with being a little on the dark side.
Sherri – Wish I had seen it. She’s great. I hope she is working on volume 2.
Kat – Tell everyone in New Zealand I said Hi. You should send me a pic. And dragons sound fun. You should do little pink dragons piped with buttercream sitting on a little white cloud. And they could have flames from their mouths. I would probably have to try that myself to see if it would work, but they sound cute.
Skyler and Liza – I hope I’ll have something.
Rachelle – I vote for the puppies.
the southern hostess – thanks!
Daniel Ted – thank you
Noor – don’t let that stop you. Make some for yourself and then just give the rest away. Neighbors, friends, family. Spread the cupcake love.
LisaB – I know I only have one extra bag. And I think I will take my niece to see the movie again if she wants. I’m sure she won’t mind.
Katie – I enjoyed eating their heads first.
Those are amazing! So cute – I’d almost feel guilty eating them haha…ALMOST. :P
MMM…Yum-o! Strawberry Oreos & Cupcakes–what a perfect marriage!! We (my family) have consumed countless packages these tasty cookies! Unfortunately, I think they have already been discontinued in our area (Southern California). Wish I’d stocked up!
Hey, 4th of July is rapidly approaching…I’m making cupcakes for the big bash…ideas??? Maybe I could attempt your cupcake pops (make ’em like a firework??? hmmmm…)Love to see what you come up with! Happy 4th Bakerella!
Please take yourself (if you haven’t already) to see Kung Foo Panda! Excellent movie! And to make it even more fun, stash one of these cute Panda cupcakes of yours into your purse to eat while watching this fun film! Wish I’d had one! A yummy, cute cupcake and a good movie is definitely better than popcorn and a movie in my book!
Take care! LisaB in So. Cal (PS Need to work on making my comments shorter…sorry…but thanks for reading!)
Those are so cute. I always want to make fun things like you do but my husband (its just us since our baby cant eat all this yet) does not like a lot of extra stuff. This stuff is just more for fun I guess but I hate to have to waste it. Ahh maybe with a bigger family I will get to do these fun projects that you have. Keep up the great work, I love your blog as I am sure you have saw :)…
Sweet.
Adorable! What a cute idea.
So cute!! I recently won this book, and me & my girls have fun looking through it. Still haven’t figured out which ones to make first!
I also love the pink/black combo!! SO creative!! Also, any ideas for the 4th of July??!? I will be checking back! :D
Hiya! This is so fabulous. Just thought I’d let you know you have a “cult” following at a high school in Auckland New Zealand – students and staff! I’m trying to do a dragon theme for my daughters first birthday and was wondering if you had any ideas?
Those are adorable. It’s funny you mention that book because I just saw a segment on Food Network’s Sugar Rush with the author of this book. She made the most adorable crab cupcakes and burger cupcakes. She also made a pina colada dessert that used pineapple cupcakes layered with cream cheese and coconut. Very summery!
I think i’m the odd one out, cause I love that scorpion cupcake, in the bug selection.
Such an awesome book!
They turned out great. I especially luv the pinkness!
So original…I never thought to use any other colors for the pandas, but I really like the pink/black combo. I LOVE my “Hello Cupcake” book :) so many ideas!!
The pandas are so cute. I took my niece to a cupcake class and she made the spaghetti and meatballs out of the book – they looked amazing. She was totally impressed with herself.
Too cute! Love your new blog layout!
Adorable. I wasn’t going to get this book, but I think I’ve changed my mind. It could make for a lot of fun projects for my little cousins and I this summer.
I’ve obviously gotta get this book and then adopt somebody’s kids! These are fab, I’m going to pass this along to my nieces in the hopes they get one of the other bakers in the family to help them make these!
p.s. I like the pool ball cupcakes
I am absolutely going to get that book!
I love the pink pandas!
So CUTE!
you truly make me so happy. i get enough pleasure just looking at your blog, without the calories! now that’s a feat! thanks for always being an upbeat part of my day. happy weekend.
Love the new template!! Your blog is a precious gem already, and now it looks even prettier.
I love these! I have never seen strawberry Oreos, they look delish.
As far as the other cupcakes, the one with the shark is my favorite. ;)
You’ve done it again…while everyone may have the book (H,C) most wouldn’t make anything out of it but because YOU did they will now. You keep motivating everyone to get out of their comfort zone, myself included!
Thanks!
Ingrid
Well, the bugs are great for a little boy’s birthday, but I really like those pool ball cupcakes.
thes are adorable!!! i have to get this book. i love making cupcakes. i am making your cupcake pops for my stepdaughters baby shower and i know they will be a big hit! i look forward to your posts and amazing ideas. you are so creative.
Ok…my son wants a “ROBOT” party for his birthday. Can you come up with a robot cupcake? I challenge you!
They are very cute little pandas!! The sunflowers are creative too, can’t wait to see your spin on them… :) I honestly think that you could publish a book that’d be even cuter than HC!! :) I plan to try and make your beach bear cupcakes next week for my mommy group’s July social! I hope I can find a black edible writing pen, I’ll be checking the craft store!! :)
i gasped out-loud at the cuteness!!
They are lovely! I wonder if the strawberry Oroes will find there way all the way to Sweden. Or else I’ll just have to do regular black and white pandas. :-)
Have a nice weekend!
ohh..they are so sweet! I bought that book because of your recommendation(as well as the whimsical bakehouse ones) and the pandas were one of my favs. You did such a great job, they are sooo cute. We took our son to see that movie last weekend..it was cute.
Thanks again for your inspiration!!
soo cute!!!I like pink!!And pink oreo??I like the regular oreo`s.yummy.I wonder if they come to sweden?!
That book is on my amazon wishlist..but currently out of stock :(

I like it! They’re so cute!
those are just gorgeous, oreos have only really just come out over here too. (UK)
super looking book too x
Those pandas are just as adorable as a cupcake can be! I love that idea, it was probably way better to make those than doing to see the movie! And I would really love to try those oreos, but I won’t find them here:(!
Cute cute cute pandas… I’m seriously thinking about buying this book.
I just HAD to leave a comment.
My 11 yr. old daughter’s password for one of her sites is “pinkpanda”. NOT EVEN KIDDING.
How perfect are these cute cupcakes for her?!?!?
Thanks for the idea. They’re darling.
absolutely adorable, as bakerella.in spain there are no pink ore, should be made white and black.Cooke
too cute! i’d love to see your take on those insect cupcakes! :)
I’m adding that book to my wishlist right now! Those pink pandas have to be adorable – wait till I show them to my daughter!!!
Thanks for always sharing such neat stuff :)
Your niece must absolutely adore you. these pandas are so cute! I’m gonna go get this book now…
So cute.
I need to get this book.
Love the pink pandas . . . are you going to do something for the 4th of July? Would love to see what you come up with!!!!
Thanks Kimberly – I make Oreo balls, too. There are some in this blog that I even made into tiny footballs. I agree they are yummy!
SOOOO cute!!! I love that book too!
I was completely inspired by your cupcake pops so I decided to make some today. I had a lot of fun. I decided to try a batch with crushed oreos and cream cheese (these covered in almond bark are a recipe make a lot in my family and fondly call “oreo balls”). Both batches were yummy!
Thanks for the cute ideas!!!
