On Valentine’s Day
Last weekend when my wife and I went on a vacation retreat.
I had cake this past Saturday at my best friend’s bridal shower.
Love these!!! My nephew’s 4th birthday just this past weekend. He actually had 2 Spiderman cakes. One was cupcakes and the other an ice cream cake. :)
It’s been a loooong time since I had cake. I think it was in January at a resturante in Sacramento. It was a chocolate bomb cake. And it was the BOMB. =)

A better question is when do I not. We just made a snickers candy cake. This weekend I am working on practicing making a 3 tiered 16th birthday cake with zebra print! And making red velvet truffles!!! YUM! To share…of course I couldn’t eat it all by myself!

The last really, really special cake I baked was for my father’s 80th birthday. A lot of love went into that cake. If you are counting regular everyday cakes, then my last cake(s) was baked two days ago when we celebrated our kindergarden zoo field trip. I baked individual little cakes for each parent volunteer.

I teach Special Education at the high school level. We had a Department meeting (20 teachers and aides) yesterday and had wonderful cupcakes made by my daughter. One kind was chocolate with peanut butter frosting (a BIG hit) and the other was rainbow white cake with lemon frosting – equally as wonderful!! Cake can make any meeting tolerable!
The last occassion I made cake for was my sister-in-law’s baby shower. She requested carrot cake andI complied. And before that I made the cake for my newest sister-in-law’s bridal shower. It was my first time using fondant and it was great fun. A two tiered cake decorated with flowers and umbrellas of course!

We had a farewell celebration for my daughter’s fabulously wonderful Kindergarten teacher a couple of weeks ago–the teacher is moving to Atlanta with her family for her husband’s new job. She’s always called the kids “Kindergarten Rock-Stars” :-), so I made a cake with fondant dotted with different colored stars. The cake was fun, saying good-bye not so much!
About 2 weeks ago, when invited over for dinner with friends. I suggested strawberry shortcake, and my husband said it had to be chocolate or we might not get invited back. In reality, they are our best friends, but they still appreciated the chocolate cake.
This is very depressing, but I have NEVER MADE a cake. I’m just getting into baking, and I made cupcakes last week, but my coworker’s last day is next week, and she requested a ‘strawberry shortcake cake’, so I have my work cut out for me! I think I’ll use PW’s recipe :)
