Ice Cream!!!!!!!!! Sorta. Kinda. Okay, not so much. These are all cake and candy impersonating cute little ice cream cones. The cool part is they don’t drip. Their frozen parts are frozen. And unlike the Burgers and Bees Cake Pops from a couple of weeks ago… these ARE in the book. And they are one of my favorites. I think because they look so real. The dark chocolate candy melts as syrup really sell it don’t ya think?
See… it’s cake inside just in case you didn’t believe me.
The bottoms are sawed off waffle cones to make them extra tiny and the cherries are peanut M&M’s.
The best part about these cake pops is that you don’t have to be good at dipping. No need to try to get the coating smooth. The drips make them look better.
And if you really can’t get the dipping down, then you can try something like this. Dip the cake ball and place it on wax paper allowing the coating to pool at the bottom and then stick the cone on top at an angle. Add a little spoonful of coating over to the side and some sprinkles and you’ve just made a happy accident… on purpose.
The full instructions will be in the book, but here are the basic cake pop instructions.
If you’ve been reading the site for a while, you may remember first seeing them in March 2009 when I showed this one during The Pioneer Woman’s Cake Pop Party. I was just showing the concept to some of the guests so it was a little plain. But, a few minutes later, I turned around and PW’s girls had turned out these cuties and without any instruction. They are so sweet. The girls I mean. Well, the cake pops, too.
Their smiles still make me happy inside. I bet you’re smiling too, aren’t you. Double scoops with banana Twizzlers are hard to resist.
That’s one of the things I love about making cake pops. How much joy they bring to other people.
It’s fun to show an idea and then see what amazing things you guys all come up with.
Take a look at recently added Pop Star Aimee…
She made these delicious looking ice cream cone cake pops… and I bet she probably didn’t even see any examples before she made them. And, they look fantastic. Great job Aimee!
The Pop Star section is growing and I still have lots of pops waiting in my inbox to be added. Lots of them. Be patient if you’ve already sent something in. I’m working my way through them all.
Now, can you help me out with something…
See these?
I recently visited General Mills and their test kitchens for a fun project (more about that in a few weeks). Anyway, they had these little guys in their stash of sweet stuff. Unfortunately, the packaging was long gone. Anyone know where to find these mini cones or their maker? They’re the perfect size for ice cream cone cake pops. For realz!
Read on another site that someone said that Ralphs grocery store carries them. They are a disney brand. Good luck and I lvoe these by the way they are adorable.
Reading this post just makes me feel so happy!!
I’ve bought these many times for tiny cones for my grandsons. I think Keebler makes them, but I could be wrong, as I don’t have the box in front of me. But they are out there.
This is going to be featured on my Lazy Sunday Post!
I love these!

Mom.Undecided.
I just made a midnight trip to Target to do last minute grocery shopping for my sons 2nd birthday party. I got a box of ‘kid size’ sugar cones for ice cream. They were $1.67 for 60 cones and when I got home and opened the box they were small enough to fit in the palm of my hand! Way too small for ice cream but would be adorable as cupcake pops… which is what I will now use them for!
Only I don’t have any cream cheese icing on hand. I wonder if real cream cheese would work, if I cut down the proportions so it’s not too greasy. Hm… we’ll see!
OH MY!! Whatever you do.. DO NOT click the link that is tied to the comment for comment 182!!
More so not with children around!
Also, these are cute.. I must go find small cones and attempt these someday. :D
I love making your cupcake pops and think you are pretty much amazing! These “ice cream cones” just add to your amazingness. :) I was wondering what you put them on when they are drying. (the regular cones not the “accident” cones.)
In the past, I have purchased mini sugar cones at Kroger.
Saw these for the first time today and couldn’t get over how incredible cute they are!!! So, off to Walmart I went and Ah-ha…I found the mini cones! Hehe! So excited! BTW…I’m in Texas.
Can anyone tell me where the instructions are for these id love to make them for my daughters ice cream party!
I got the Joy kids cones in the store the other night, and will be making these for a picnic next Friday – can’t wait – hopefully, they’ll be as cute as yours!!
I just thought I’d let you know you inspired me to try something new, and I entered the contest at Duncan Hines. Here is a link to my entry. http://wildfireapp.com/website/6/contests/42530/voteable_entries/6513198?order=recency
Thanks – it was fun!
Love it! As always so creative. I found mini cake cones at Ralph’s (So Cal) – and they were under the Disney brand.
Can’t wait to try it!! Thanks for the idea!
for JULIA, post number 61…
puedes usar dulce de leche…
the mini cones are Joy sugar cones. You can buy the ones with pointy ends on it but the cup-styles are available at some stores. Go to the Joy cones website and they list some stores that carry them.
Seriously?!?!?! I luv this. I made something similar to this about 16 years ago for my daughters pre-school class. I simply poured the cake batter in the cones and baked. The kids loved it. I will have to try this version!!
very nice
JUST PERFECT!!!
Oh, I went nuts when I saw these and had to make them with my girls. What a blast!!! Thanks so much for the great idea. I would love to send you a picture of what we did….let me know where I should send them.
Shut.The.Front.Door.
these are the cutest things i’ve ever seen.
i’m crying.
Stupid question….do you dip the cake ball first then place it on the cone or dip 1/2 a cake ball, “glue” it to the bottom of the cone, then dip again? (I have preordered the book…but want to make them before the book comes out as a last day of summer vacation treat for the kids and their new teachers.) Thanks!

Mini waffle cones: http://www.pastrypost.com/shop/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=23
i get mini waffle cones from a company called Pidy, i get them 228 (or so..) to a box though. you’ll have enough to make plenty of cones!!
This looks delish! im going to blog about this today!
These are so Adorable! Can’t wait for you new book!
Hi Bakerella,
I just love your creative baking ideas. Just wanted to let you know that you have a big fan in the Netherlands! I have made your cupcake bites a few times now and i get an amazing response every time.
I can’t wait for your book to come out so i can make these adorable ice cream cake pops, hope it comes out in the Netherlands as well!
Love,
Chalana
I love these!! You are so creative. I’m having a 1980’s themed party and wanted to make cake pops of some sort. . having a hard time coming up with an idea. Do you have any ideas/suggestions?! :D
i’m mildly obsessed with ice cream…these pops are my favorite!
So darn cute!! You’re so creative!
not sure if your question has been answered, I assume it has, but our grocery store (Kroger) sells boxes of
“Kids Mini Cones” by Disney magic. They are regular cones (not sugar cones) but the perfect size for cake pops. I’ve used them many times, instead of shaving down a cone, these are perfect!! Good luck!
I love this! I tried baking cupcakes in ice cream cones and the cones tasted like rubbish after baking! Cute, but not fresh tasting. This is such a fabulous idea! Thanks, Bakerella!

So adorable. My daughter would eat all of them.
These are the cutest things! Your skill with cake pops just blows me away. I enjoy seeing the new designs on your blog so much!
I live in Canada so my references would be useless! Ha! However these are so freaking cute!
Love these! Too funny, I posted yesterday with some ice cream cone cupcakes, plus a cool giveaway with cone pans for making cupcakes out of them so they don’t topple over! It’s really the coolest and would work perfect for the cone pops too!
http://commerce.idmi.net/ecommerce/catalog.asp?CID=126&CI=526
I made these. I have to say I thought the peanut mms were too big. So I used red hots. I think they turned out fabulous. My favorite combination was mint chocolate chip “ice cream” with ” cherry ” on top. I did mini mms too. These were a great hit, and easy for my daughter to help with too.
OMG! They look so cute, it hurts to eat them but they seem delicious. I’d want one to eat and one to just look at.
M.
Wow, I’m always impressed by all the goodies you make…so clever! These are really cute and they look yummy, too!
So cute!!!!
What kind of candy melts Do you use?
I have tried with wilton but it hasn’t the right fluency once melted :-(((
I just found these. Not sure if they are exactly what you are looking for :)

The “pointy end” ice-cream cone?… I have no idea BUt my husband went to Wal-Mart to get some of the “flat end” ones (regular, normal size) and he came back with the mini, cute as a button ones (for one bite-size scoop of icre cream). You might want to try those out, your cake pops will look so good and cute too! (they’re located right next to the regular size ice cream cones)
These are my favorite cake pops – and I think that I can actually make them! I am going to try this weekend – Yay!!!
Thank you for all your fabulous ideas!
Oh my gosh! I just love these!! My husband is going to die when I make yet another dessert! We make our own waffle comes, absolutely delicious!
Beautiful! You are so inspiring!
an ABSOLUTE for Grandma Projects!! Yay!
As mentioned above, I believe they are JOY Kids cones as well…they make them in the other cone shape too – you know, non-pointy
These are just precious!! A must have for a summer party!!

They all look great! I love your blog and your creative ideas. :)
Oh they are so cute and I love that the messy dipping will only add to the design of the melting ‘icecream’ : )
I found myself grinning at the sight of the ice cream cone cake pop. They’re adorable! So fun, and what a cute display at a party.
Now if I knew someone who loved ice cream AND cake, I’d be set…..
These are amazing!!! The color + sprinkles reminds me of the iconic Simpsons donuts.
You are amazing, these are so very cute. Gushing over here. Well done you.

These are great! Can’t wait for your book:)
The list at Joy says I can get them at my local grocery store (Pick ‘n Save here in MKE). If you want, I can pick some up for you. I could deliver more if your book tour stops in MKE and I can get my preordered book signed!! Let me know!
How fun…can’t wait to make them.

I love these!!! So creative! Can’t wait to try them out as soon as possibl!
Very cool and unique idea!
Hi! Ok so I have made cake balls and cake pops twice now and I have one big burning question, how do you get the coating so smooth? I just can’t figure it out! I did make some super cute pops for a baby shower … even though they weren’t terribly smooth. :) Love your blog!
Bakerella,
I don’t know if anyone responded about the cones (because I didn’t read all of the comments), but if you check the JOY website, they’ll give you a list of retailers that sell the kid’s cones. I just bought mine today at Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh – the flat bottom type. THANKS for this AWESOME cakeball idea. My kids are going to LOVE these!!!!!
Love,
Jeanie

I know you can get those little cones in Canada, they are just with the regular cones. I will check and see who makes them next time I go to the store!
Wow, these are great! I can’t wait to get the book!
That reminds me of growing up and getting a clown cone at Baskin Robbins for my birthday!
Never seen those before, but I’ve seen square bottom ones at the food buffet chain, Sweet Tomato’s.
I don’t know about the minicones, but they would have been perfect for the part I held for National Ice Cream Day! Though little ‘gelatin shooter’ cups and tiny spoons worked pretty well too.
I googled mini taster cones and found some on Aurthers popcorn. Previous

oh my gosh these are so cuuuuute! and perfect for summer!
I found mini-cones at Target– they aren’t the pointy cones, just the traditional flat bottomed ones. I am happy to mail some to you!
I just adore you can you be my new best friend…maybe your creativity will rub off on me….
So very sweet.

Canadians can get them at safeway:)
Mmmmmhhhh. These look so good. Geez, I have so much to make , so many recipes bookmarked. *sigh*
go to http://www.joycone.com, they have the plain cake cone (it’s flat on the bottom). the website says the measure 1.75 in and they give you a list where they sell them :)
Target sells a mini-cone waffle iron. Can’t beat the freshness of making your own! There is also Joycone.com for retailers near you. They have the flat-bottom mini cones. Many other already mentioned the listings on Amazon. Good luck and the mini-cones are deliciously adorable!
Of course these are so adorable! Keep the creative juices flowing!
I have seen those mini ones around my neck of the woods. Let me do some checking for you and i’ll email if I am successful.
I already preordered the book — can’t wait!
Oh those are too cute!! You might try your local ice cream shop..if they have sample or kiddie cones (ours has both) they might be willing to sell you some or at least let you know where you can purchase them.
These are so adorable! Your ideas are so creative, they really get me thinking about all the cute different ways to do cake balls :)
JOY CONES MAKES KID’S CONES. THEY HAVE A LIST ON THEIR WEBSITE OF THE STORES THAT SELL THEM. PEOPLE WHO PURCHASED THE CONES FROM YOHAY COMPLAINED ABOUT THE FRESHNESS OF THE CONES. I HAD ALSO SEEN THEM IN A CHOCOLATE SUPPLY STORE. IF YOU HAVE A WAFFLE CONE MAKER, YOU CAN ALSO MAKE THEM.
You are awesome!!!I’m helping my sister do her daughter’s first birthday and the theme is ice cream…I’ve been looking and looking for ideas for party favors and these are perfect!!!!!!thanks:)
O.M.G. Seriously. SERIOUSLY! That accident one is beyond cute! I absolutely love it (even more than the proper looking cones!)
these could be my new favs-SO super cute!
LOVE these. Absolutely LOVE them!!!!!!! I can’t wait to get my hands on your book! I think these are my favorite yet. I am doing a pink sweets party for my daughter’s 4th birthday…I was going to do with good ole’ cake balls, but THESE are a MUST! Thank you for sharing!
kids cones at JOYCone.com – they are flat bottomed cones though – I plan to make some that look like “soft-serve” ice cream – perhaps using a piping bag to add cake pop “dough” – dipping then decorating – will send a pic :)
These are adorable! Perfect to serve at birthday parties.
I found these: http://www.marioscones.co.za/follow.php?command=order
May work for you.
Hi,
These are so fun. I am always looking for something fun and different and your cake pops and other sweet goodies always deliver. I did find a wholesaler online for the mini cones. The quantities are large but they do make them in a variety of colors.
http://www.marioscones.co.za/follow.php?command=products
AHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I almost screamed out loud at the cuteness. You’re AMAZING!
Wei-Wei
What a great idea. So cute.
You are right…they do look like real cones, delicious looking too :)

http://www.marioscones.co.za/follow.php?command=products
My oldest son is 34 1/2 and I have made these cones since his second or third birthday. Another twist is with gingerbread, very moist and the kids decorate with buttons (candies like gumdrops and cinnamon dots, etc.) Thanks for reminding us.
I have had trouble getting into the cupcake theme but love your pops!
I don’t know about the specific little cones you have pictured but I use these http://www.amazon.com/Joy-Kids-Cones-60-Count-Boxes/dp/B000H2265I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=grocery&qid=1279547773&sr=8-1
You can get them at Wal-Mart.
These are mini cones… the kind ice cream places use for samples and baby cones. You can buy a box of them at some costco’s and other grocery stores.
These are one of my fave Bakerella creations so far! Perfect for the beginner cake pop maker (ahem, raises hand now) and perfect for summer!
Publix (grocery chain in the south) has the packaged mini cones, located in their freezer section. I spotted them at a grand opening, they were sampling ice cream with them. Just adorable!
Amazon.com has bulk packs of the mini cones, but read the reviews…buyer beware.
I’m going to make these for my daughter’s karate party on Saturday. The kids will love them!
I’ve also gotten the small ones at Walmart before, but HAVE noticed they don’t always have them. Same brand as the regular size–Joy?
So cute and perfect less-mess (Is anything less mess with kids?) ;)
Well, these are mini flatbottom ones but you can get them at walmart that they are cute!!

Thank you so much for posting my picture of ice cream cone cake pops! I’m so flattered! You provide me with so much inspiration each and every day. I’m having a ball making all sorts of different cake pops and providing my family and friends with all sorts of cute treats…and we owe it all to you, Bakerella! :)
I have a sort of dumb question: what are candy melts? Im not sure Ive heard of those at my country (Argentina). Is there something to replace it?
Everything looks so yummy I cant wait to try and make some! :)
I’ve seen the tiny cones at Kroger. These cake pops are super cute!!
You are so incredibly creative and talented! Each pop seems to get more awesome! I agree with other comments–you deserve all of the success in the world!!!
Bakerella – they have the flat ones either at Publix or Kroger. Can’t remember which but I bought them recently to make cupcakes baked in cones!
Here in Oz they are made by Altimate foods – http://www.altimatefoods.com.au there may be a link to a US distributor.
Making your cakepops is my FAVORITE thing to do. And everyone I feed them to loves them too!
Congratulations on your book! All of your success is so richly deserved! I just love everything about you!
Best wishes,
Janet
Those look like a seriously fun project for me and my almost-three-year-old! :D
As usual – Amazing!!! These are so cute! I can’t wait to make some for my kids… :)
You are for realz the best. I love these! We used to pour batter in full size cones as kids and bake and frost them but these are fantas-teesh. As is everything you do : D !
amazon.com
Perfect! Perfect! I love all your creations—can’t wait for the book—but these and the hamburger/French fries are my favorites.
this might be my favorite cake pop idea yet…it’s so versatile, perfect for every time of year, and ADORABLE!
Hi Bakerella,
i’m in love with your site
each recepie is better than the other, if you could please help me, I’m brazillian and I was reading one of your recepies https://www.bakerella.com/make-your-cupcakes-pop/
and I really wanted to do it for a birthday party but here we don’t usually use crem cheese, I was wondering if there is anything I can use to replace the cream cheese
thank you very much and congratulations for the site
Absolutely adorable!
You can get those mini cones here in Canada at Loblaws. In fact they are part of their No Name products and my daughter and I have been using them for years using marshmallows dipped in candy melts with round sprinkles on top. Now we can use cake pops too!!!!
OMG! Those cake pops looks really good!
There are so adorable!! I”m going to Walmart today to try and find the cones so that I can make them for my granddaughter’s 6th birthday next week – thanks for such great ideas. I can’t wait for your book to be published.
Hi Bakerella! Those are super adorable!!! The first site that came up in my search for the cones was:http://www.fafh.com/resources/Cone_Flash_Cards.pdf And there they were! That was easy! Next assignment? haha!
I get those cones at my local grocery shop. I live in Montreal, QC, I could ship you some if you can’t find any.
Here’s the Joy mini cone (flat bottom) item #:Joy 60count Kids Cone® (72092 02460) — found on their website.
Love this idea
Bruster’s Ice Cream has them – just give them a call, I am sure your local one would be happy to tell you where they get them. The one at Hamilton Mill (324/124) has always been more than helpful for me.
Im from Montreal, Quebec, canada… all the grocery stores have thoses cones! I have some green, yellow and pink ones! I can ship you a batch if you really want! Contact me!
These are just beyond! Can’t handle the cuteness. Honestly. I can’t.
Bakerella…you never cease to amaze me. These are SO adorable…LOVE the mini size and I’m going to HAVE to try these! Thanks for you ongoing inspiration! Hugs!!
OMG! My daughter is 7 and would LOVE to make these!!
These are AWESOME!!! Must try…
I’m in New Brunswick Canada, and we have them at the Atlantic Superstore. I’m definitly going to have to pick a box up and make some of these now!
Oh so sweet, I think I can eat about three of them. Such a great idea. You’ve done it again Bakerella. Can’t wait to try these. Paulette
I second the joy kids cones. They are the perfect size and flat bottom, so easier drying. We buy them at our supermarket, the JOY website has a list of all their retail locations.
I can’t wait to make these! And am getting anxious for your book! We’re getting closer!
Bakerella you are a true inspiration! I absolutely love your creations! I had my first attempt at cake pops last week and they turned out great, everyone love love LOVED them – i’m making the Elmo pops this week to accompany an Elmo cake i’m making for a friend, looking forward to giving them a go! Can’t wait for your book to be available over here in the UK. x
I’d love to find those cones! These are SO adorable!
I LOOOOVE these!!! You are just soo talented
Ahw, my mom used to make these when I turned 2 and 3 to hand out at preschool! She would take some ice cream cones, put coloured puffed rice inside and one large pink marshmellow on top! The other kids and I loved them.
Oh dear me! These are the cutest yummiest treats ever!
Oh!! You made them !!! I see that finally you didn’t find the tiny cones and you had to break some standard ones, as I did. Ther must be a better way. Maybe making the cones ourlselves.
Mmmmmmmmmmm. I want some of these for breakfast.
beautiful.. i have to stop my sweet cravings, but this is just so tempting.. haha..
I love these, they are so cute !!!
OMG!!! These are sooo flippin’ adorable!!!!
LOVE IT!!!

Not sure if you have a Walmart but they carry these little ice cream cones of the size of my thumb, so cute. I buy these for my daughter. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B000H2265I/ref=dp_image_0?ie=UTF8&n=16310101&s=grocery

Oh.my.gosh.
That’s all I have to say really – I run out of vocabulary each time I see one of your creations.
http://www.yohay.com/FoodService.aspx for the mini-cones referenced in the amazon.com link above.
Holy adorable! These are so stinkin cute!! Can’t wait to make ’em!! How in the world do you come up with this stuff?!
I live in Canada and those “mini cones” are sold at Real Canadian Superstore (Huge Grocery store chain up here) I have a box in my cupboard! They are “no name” brand produced by a company out of Montreal called Loblaws, inc. contact phone number is 1-888-495-5111
Hope that is helpful:)
colleen
BTW, I almost always check Amazon for obscure products and almost always find them.
Here you go…

They have a cute serving tray for them too!
Love these! And I just saw some ice cream cone wrappers at Michael’s today–surely easy enough to duplicate. Another sweet snack added to my list for my daughter’s 3rd birthday. Thanks for sharing all of your brilliant ideas!
A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E!!! You always make everything look perfect!
absolutely cuuuute!
Definitely have the small cake cones, but haven’t seen the sugar cones in mini yet. I love the cone that “hit the table” These will be a must for the class as a treat for back to school.
Can’t wait for the book!
They are adorable! For anyone in the UK, there is a chain of stores called Oil and Vinegar that sells tiny cones (aka cornets).
I’d check Keebler! Sometimes they have the mini cones. Also JOY brand may have them. They come in a red box we normally find them at Walmart or a store here called Martin’s that may be down where you are =] (www.martinsfoods.com)
I don’t know about mini cones in that shape, but I have bought Joy Cones Kids’ Cones, which are cute little cake cones. I can’t tell you which store I bought them at, but it was definitely one of the big chain stores, either Target, Ralphs/Kroger, or Vons/Safeway. Here’s the website for Joy:
http://www.joycone.com/retail_division.htm
This is just an idea because I can’t see exactly what size these cones are but it might be worth calling them to see what they actually have.
http://www.mansfieldpaper.com/icecream.html
I love how easy and super cute these are! Probably my favorite cake pops yet. Great job and I can’t wait to make some!
Love these!
I’ve bought the mini cones in the Tucker/Lilburn area. We had them for my son’s 1st birthday party (he’s 3 now). I think they were right there with the other cones in either Kroger or Publix. Hope this helps!
No idea about the mini cones but these are just so cute! I too think the accident one is a scream!
Yay for Yohay! Thanks Debbi

they are a wholesale baker in NY that make mini cake cones..pointy AND flat bottom
I just luuuurve the “happy accident” ice cream cone. Whoops! ;)
These are just so, so cute, and I love that you can make them fun without being careful! I can’t wait to make these!
love. love. love these.
These, I love. Fabulous again! Hope you’re doing well! ;)
I bought some flat bottom minis at… Walmart, of course:). Box is the same as big cones, just has 60 cones in one box. Called JOY kids cones. Happy hunting!!
I love that you don’t have to be neat with the icing on these ones! I used to buy the mini cones all the time when my girls were little and couldn’t eat a whole cone (I’m in Canada and don’t know if they make them anymore, never checked).
Wow! Those are AMAZING! Quite possibly my favorite cake pops to date. I simply must try these, though the “accident” ones are more my style. ;)
saw these on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Yohay-Baking-Co-Mini-Cones/dp/B002DLBPRG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=grocery&qid=1279513948&sr=8-1 might be the manufacturer you’re looking for?
I have to make these immediately. How are you so endlessly creative?!?!
